In Amma's meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister, Sr. Vilasrao Deshmukh, the CM sought Amma's guidance on the issue of famer suicide plaguing the state's Vidarbha District. After the meeting Amma spontaneously announced in repsonse to questions by the media that the Ashram would pledge 200 crores [$45.4 million U.S.] to relief, rehabilition and counselling for affected and at-risk familiesi in Maharashtra, Kerala and other parts of India.
