In January, 2005, even though it was not winter, the tree in front of the Ashram had shed its leaves. Because of the tsunami, the earth was soaked with salt water. The plants have been finding it difficult to survive. For some time after the tsunami, the earth received only one good rain. Even though these plants and trees have been watered sufficiently, their chances of survival is not good. All the plants in Alappad village have been fighting for their survival.

Amritapuri, 8 January 2005.
