On 3rd March 6:00 a.m., brahmacharis performed bhumi-puja - worshipping the land on which the Ashram will rebuild houses destroyed by the tsunami. The puja promotes auspiciousness, both for the construction and for the family that will occupy the dwelling. On the evening of 2nd March, Amma blessed the sand which was sprinkled on the land of each beneficiaries. At first, the Kerala Government allocated 450 houses for the Ashram to reconstruct in Alappad Panchayat. It was later increased to 1600.
